Book #100-The Magnificent Ambersons (Update #1)

I made it over to the bookstore yesterday and picked up a copy of Tarkington's The Magnificent Ambersons.

Book #100
I've barely made it through the first few pages, but I'm hopeful that I'll have time in the next day or two to dig deeper into the story. So far, I've learned quite about about early 20th century fashion. Here's one of my favorite lines, "A silk dress needed no remodelling when it was a year or so old; it remained distinguished by merely remaining silk" (Tarkington 3-4). I have a feeling that this is going to be a theme (just from the hints in the introduction and the summary on the back cover). Tarkington's novel is focused on the aristocratic Amberson family. Perhaps I'll discover that one remains distinguished by merely remaining Amberson? Or Archaic Amberson?

On a lighter note, remember how I mentioned that the sound of Parade's End reminded me of Howards End? Well, amazingly, I found the connection (aside from the fact that they both conclude with "End.) BEHOLD! Ford Maddox Ford and E.M. Forster are bookshelf neighbors:
